I am fucking pissed off.

I got robbed yesterday.

Again.

The second time in less than a year.

Most likely both times by neighborhood junkies looking for electronic gadgets to convert to cash to feed their heroin habits.

First time, he (they?) ransacked my place - it was a complete mess - but all he took was a digital camera and a jar of change. The detective traced a trail of change to a known junkie's house a block away... but this apparently wasn't enough evidence to really go after him.

This time, the asshole(s) took two laptops - I had just bought a Mac to replace my 4-year old Dell. Both were gone, as was my iPod.

I slept like shit last night, with lights on and too much adrenaline in my system to get any sleep.

I started praying, the first time anything remotely like a prayer has passed my lips in months. But I was praying revenge prayers. "Dear God, let those asshats die horrible premature deaths." No, no, that's a bit extreme. It's just stuff they took. "Dear God, let those asshats break a leg in a compound fracture that is excruciatingly painful and which inhibits their criminal activities." Better.

After all, it's not like the police in my city are going to do much about it.

But that's a rant for another day.

I'm so sorry - that absolutely sucks! I hope karma kicks those guys/girls/things asses!

That sucks...I always hated being robbed - it's such an offensive step over the personal line of someone else. Were you insured?

Yeah, it's the personal invasion thing that gets me the most. Well, that and the complete lack of a moral compass of jackasses like this. Happily yes, I'm insured. Ironically I bought renter's insurance the week before my first breakin, but my deductible was high so I didn't file a claim for that robbery. This time I definitely will.

This is where I'd usually say something to the effect of "That really sucks; I'm really sorry; I'm praying for you," which, while it would be true, probably wouldn't do much as far as comforting you. I'm with Maria in saying that I hope karma comes back to bite them in the ass. Keep your head up, Slapdash...

I never used to really grasp how low people could go until I had neighbors who abused drugs and alcohol. By the time I ran into them, they had become so thoroughly compromised that stealing from my family was like walking to the corner to get some milk. Just something you do. My car was broken into, my daughter's bike stolen, the fruit stolen off our trees, just about every garden tool I owned... really, anything they could get their hands on. Yes, I am pissed at them, but more than that I'm just damned glad not to be them.
